Backpacking Yosemite for beginners

Thurs., August 14 - Sun., August 17
(actual backpack time will be 2 nights/2days)

If you enjoy hiking around in the outdoors and would like to experience a true backpacking trip, pack it up, it's time to get away! Yosemite National Park embraces almost 1,200 square miles of scenic wild lands in the central Sierra Nevada. We'll meet in Yosemite Valley and then begin our trek in the high country through alpine wilderness, Giant Sequoia groves, impressive waterfalls, cliffs and unusual rock formations. No matter what your level, this adventure through the wilderness will give you the confidence to hit the trails on your own.

Your group will be lead by one of the world's top multi-sport endurance athletes who will teach you basic backpacking skills and preparation, including gear specific to backpacking, trail map reading, environmental etiquette and safety.

TTwo informative pre-meetings will give you all the information you'll need to prepare for this trip, plus you'll go on a local practice hike. You will receive a letter upon registration to help you get started.

Equipment needed: 4000 cu. in. pack (or close to it), sleeping pad, sleeping bag, hiking shoes, headlamp and clothing (all gear options will be covered in class).

"This was absolutely one of the best trips I've ever taken. It was exactly what I had hoped for. Terri and all the instructors did a terrific job supporting and educating us. I'd definitely do a backpack trip on my own now. I hope you offer another trip next year even if it's the same one. Thanks again for a perfect weekend!"
